United Texas Credit Union was founded in 1955 as a credit union for employees of the United Services Automobile Association (USAA). It started with just 19 employees depositing $5 each and made its first loan of $85 to reupholster a sofa. Over the years, United Texas Credit Union has expanded its field of membership to include individuals living, working, worshiping, and attending school in Bexar, Kendall, Comal, and Tarrant Counties. Today, it is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative with approximately $400 million in assets and over 20,000 members.
