The Gatehouse was established in 2015 as an initiative of projectHandUp, a Christian organization, in response to the growing challenges faced by women in the community such as unemployment and underemployment. The organization aims to provide women and children with a hand up for permanent, positive change. The Gatehouse takes a holistic approach to support single women and women with children by offering them resources, time, and relationships to create a foundation for self-sustainability.

The Gatehouse Program focuses on empowering its members through hope, coaching, goal-setting, and the development of personal empowerment plans. The organization believes in the dignity of earned success and provides a hand up instead of a handout, tailored to meet individual needs. Members graduate from the program equipped with skills to manage their financial, emotional, spiritual, and physical health.
