Saddlemans was founded in 1992 by Lance Nolder, who started selling leather accessories at a winter season open-air market in Palm Desert, CA. Lance later opened a seasonal store for Christmas in a shopping mall in Cardiff by the Sea, San Diego. As the outdoor market thrived, Lance sought another location to complement the Palm Desert market and found it in Santa Fe, NM. This move proved crucial for Saddlemans' success as Santa Fe attracted travelers and business owners looking for authentic southwest-style products and furnishings.

During his time in Santa Fe, Lance discovered a source for hair-on-hide cowhide rugs and began traveling to Brazil to source supplies from top tanneries. Recognizing the need for frequent trips to maintain the quality he desired, Lance established Saddlemans as a leading supplier of high-quality hides.

In 2013, Saddlemans relocated back to Orange County, CA. Today, with nearly 30 years of experience, innovative ideas, and strong customer support, Saddlemans remains the foremost branded hair-on-hide supplier in the country.
